RESIDENTS

In addition to our approach, association W1555 is unique in its composition of members, most of whom work in the cultural sector. We owe this to our history with Stichting NAC, which at the time offered the homes as affordable living and working spaces to artists. W1555 is characterised by the fact that we place art and culture at the forefront of our activities and value the educational and social role of art and culture within the wider community. We understand art and culture in its broadest sense, and embrace it in all its diversity.

Our backgrounds as artists and creators greatly influence the ways in which we develop and shape our environment. Not only is creativity necessary in coming up with good solutions; it also enables us to think differently about society and our position within it. Thanks to our creativity we are able to think and build new forms of living and working together in an autonomous way; we are creators for a reason.
